So, I couldn't think of anything creative to write in the program so I just wrote what I thought about distraction free writing and the program itself. Below I will paste what I wrote! Oh and I used the Ommwriter program. Sorry if there are spelling errors, the program doesn't have spell check and I didn't edit it:)

The point of this whole assignment is to practice distraction free writing, yet I find myself being somewhat distracted by the program itself. I am the kind of person who can't focus with any background noise, so the music that plays during when this program is open is a litle distracting. But since there are no words I guess it is'nt too distracting. When music with words is playing I find myself thinking about the lyrics and not focusing on whatever I am working on. I actually find the music to be kind of relaxing now. Sometimes pure silence is not good for focuing either. The silence itself can cause you to lose focus and lets your mind start to wander. The other thing I find distracting about his program is the typing in the cursive font. When you first type the letters appear grey then one by one turn black. I find myself seeing how fast I can type and trying to type faster than the black can cover the letters. Other than those two things this program is actually pretty cool. It is fairly similar to Microsoft word. You have the ability to pick between three or four founts and their size. You can also also capitalize, enter, and indent like you could on word. One thing that is different from word is that spelling and grammar suggestions are not underlined like they are in word. It is kind of nice because I find myself being distracted by the squiggly red and green lines. Obviosly spelling and grammar check can be very helpful, but they can make me lose my train of thought by switching my focus on what I did wrong rather than focus on what I am writing. I also like that once you start typing in this program all of the option buttons disappear, and I sort of forget about them. When working in word the entire outline of the paper is littered with a million little buttons. All of these can be so distracting. I mean come on…everyone loves to play with the fonts to see which makes their paper the longest, or make all of the periods a slightly bigger font size to make the paper longer (word of advice…don't do the period thing, teachers can tell!). Also when you start writing the word count disappears. I really like this aspect of the writer because I feel like academic writing is so heavily focused on making a certain length. And from personal experience I know that students stress about reaching the required lengths so that they do not automatically fail. It is nice to be able to just type and not have the constant reminder of the word count at the bottom of the page. I also really like the background on this writer. I chose the background option that is a drawing of a snowy field with some trees. It is not stark white so I find it less intimidating than microsoft word. Overall, I really enjoyed writing in this program, and could see myself using it in the furture for academic papers!
